Do Allergies Cause Snoring

There are different causes of snoring such as breathing problem, Nasal problems, Sleep apnea, Alcohol consumption and mouth anatomy. But when you feel that your nose breathing is not smooth or the nasal passages are blocked, then it might be due to some allergy. Sometimes dust particles (not visible through naked eyes) entered your nasal and cause problems especially snoring.  Moreover, when the nose gets blocked, the individual may experience problems in breathing and forced to breathe through his/her nose. This opposes the air to nosily collide with the soft palate, result in snoring.

There are diverse causes of seasonal related allergies such as indoor mold, dust mites (found in mattresses and carpets), pet dander, airborne particles (pollen), ragweed and outdoor molds. If a person is facing serious sinus congestion and nighttime snoring, then it is sure that he/she is having allergies.

Allergies and Sleep Apnea

Allergies can also cause sinus congestion known as Allergic Rhinitis. According to some studies, the person with allergic rhinitis suffers mostly from sleeping disorders. The sinus congestion result in the upper airway to close or narrow causes both obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.

Reducing Snoring Due to Allergy

The reduction of inflammation in the nasal passage likely to eradicates the symptoms of snoring, allergies and obstructive sleep apnea. By taking a spray of nasal steroid with antihistamine can endow with relief to the allergic rhinitis.

Sleep apnea is one of the biggest causes of snoring. This is very common in adults as well in children. Sleep apnea generally occurs when the airways get blocked completely, which may be a cause of dust or any other particles that cause allergy. Allergies cause sinus tissue to swell that narrows the passage of the nasal. To get oxygen, the person starts breathing from mouth that cause snoring. Today, not only adults, but children also snore while sleeping and that should not be taken lightly. For that it is important to analyze if this is a result of some allergy so it is important that they should be tested for obstructive sleep apnea and allergic rhinitis.

To prevent allergies, it is important to keep your surroundings neat and clean. Though, if you are getting complaint of snoring then make sure to analyze the main reason that should be possible by visiting a physician or ENT. The physician will analyze your condition and tell you the causes of snoring responsible for your condition. Certainly, snoring is a symptom than a disease, so, whether you are seeking friendly advice on snoring, or looking for an effective solution to get rid of allergies, causing snoring, visiting an experienced and reputed physician is must.
