Septum is considered to a wall that is made of cartilage. This wall divides nasal passages from the middle side. From both sides, septum gets covered with mucus membrane. A correct and ideal septum is cut from the mid of nasal passage. It is estimated that in more than 75% people today have deviated septum. The deviation in septum occurs sometimes naturally and sometimes after a traumatic accident. Most of the time, this deviated septum is not visible. There are bigger chances of occurring sleep apnea with patients who have mild deviated septum because it blocks air passage.

Sleep apnea causes many types of symptoms. Usually, it starts affecting a person in evening time. It occurs repeatedly and results in to daytime excessive sleepiness and fatigue. When, sleep apnea gets to worse condition, it results into dropping desire of sleeping to a person. As its result, a person starts desiring to make drive and indulges in other activities which may cause accident to one. The most common symptoms of sleep apnea include loud snoring, headaches, fatigue, and dryness of mouth, heartburn, restless sleep and excess amount of perspiration. As per experts, deviated septum can sometimes be a big contributor to sleep apnea.
